The Everest Judo Project: Building Futures Through Judo in the Himalayas
“Judo can be the answer to the question of ‘why’—why I do it, why I try, why I live my life with purpose.”
— Sabrina Filzmoser, Founder of Everest Judo
The Vision Behind Everest Judo
For four-time Olympian and two-time World Judo Championship medalist Sabrina Filzmoser, judo is more than a sport—it’s a way of life. Everest Judo is her way of giving back, creating opportunities for children in Nepal’s Himalayan region through the transformative power of judo.
With the YULF’s support, the Everest Judo Project is able to provide:
Education: Empowering young minds to bridge cultural gaps and build brighter futures.
Health Support: Ensuring children have access to sufficient food and medical care.
Judo Training: Teaching values like respect, courage, and self-control through sport.
By promoting these opportunities, the Everest Judo Project combines the ethics of judo with the potential of education to create lasting change.
"The Yoshihiro Uchida Legacy Foundation is proud to support the Everest Judo Project. This initiative exemplifies how judo can improve the world by building character, creating opportunities, and fostering global peace. It aligns perfectly with our mission of using judo and education to develop individuals of integrity and purpose. Together, we can empower the next generation to carry forward these values." — Marti Malloy, President, Yoshihiro Uchida Legacy Foundation

Why Judo Matters
For Sabrina, “Judo for Peace” is more than a motto—it’s a mission. By combining the ethics of judo with the opportunity for education, Everest Judo fosters the values of freedom, justice, and equality in some of the world’s most remote areas.
“Without education, these values have no meaning,” Sabrina says. “Ignorance is the greatest danger to humanity.” Everest Judo addresses this challenge by building character, fostering discipline, and spreading hope to children who need it most.
