The Yosh Uchida Legacy Foundation (YULF) is dedicated to empowering judo athletes by supporting their athletic and academic endeavors. Our scholarship and grant programs are designed to provide financial assistance to athletes who exhibit exceptional dedication to judo, enabling them to train and compete at national and international levels while also pursuing their educational goals.

Grants & Scholarships Offered

The YULF proudly offers grants and scholarships to support aspiring judo athletes on the SJSU Judo team:

1. Judo Training & Competition Grants: This grant provides financial assistance for athletes to fund training, travel, and participation in judo competitions, helping them reach the highest levels of their sport. APPLY HERE.

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS:

Fall 2024 Application Cycle:

• Applications Open: October 15th

• Application Deadline: November 15th

• Scholarship Award Announcement: December 15th

Spring 2025 Application Cycle:

• Applications Open: January 15th

• Application Deadline: February 15th

• Scholarship Award Announcement: March 15th

JUDO TRAINING & COMPETITION GRANTS:

Quarterly Application Cycles: To accommodate the fluidity of tournament and training camp schedules and needs, training and competition grants will follow a quarterly application schedule. Applications can be submitted at any time up to the application deadline for each cycle.

Cycle 1:
Application Deadline: January 15th
Scholarship Award Announcement: January 31st

Cycle 2:
Application Deadline: April 15th
Scholarship Award Announcement: April 30th

Cycle 3:
Application Deadline: July 15th
Scholarship Award Announcement: July 31st

Cycle 4:
Application Deadline: October 15th
